Just before the Rainbows

Bettyhill, Sutherland, Scotland.

Taken just before sunset which is a long wait in Scotland this time of year. Some amazing light even before the double rainbow appeared! I'll post that next in M&N. The light and color were insane, and almost unbelievable that evening. Taken on a Transient Light Workshop.

Pentax 67II
Pentax 67 55-100mm Zoom
Lee 1.5 grad + 4 - Stop ND
Velvia 50
Epson V750 Scan, betterscanning.com holder with ANR glass using Silverfast Ai Studio 8 multiple exposure scan.

I am definitely enjoying my film images from this trip. Just wish I had taken more.

Thanks for your comments on my previous post and of course, thanks for looking and for your comments and input here. Appreciate it.

Film? What's that? I just read somewhere today that velvia is being discontinued...

Great stuff, can't wait to see the double rainbow. You're right Scotland is very Nova Scotia-like. Must go there now too...

Incredible light - love all the areas of interest, and that great water.
Gorgeous -

Beautiful greens and nice soft clouds on the horizon. The little splash of color on the foreground is great to. Nice job Eva.

Gorgeous shot Eva. The water texture from the surging tide round those rocks is very lovely. The big old Pentax suits you. What is that nasty rumour about Velvia being discontinued all about.

This is a real eye catcher Eva! I love seascape images, and this one is very serene. Perfect shutter speed to capture that ethereal look to the water. Any filters used?

Oh that's lovely! I really like the glow in the water and the touch of warmth from the foreground flowers and the distant sunlit clouds. Were this mine, I'd try to lighten the the area to the left of the flowers to see how it looked.

Beautiful image, Eva. The layers in the composition lead my eye throughout the scene and I like the subtle elements, such as the flowers in the foreground and that little patch of warm light in the sky.

Thanks all for your comments.

Kurt - If you find the link about Velvia, please share. I found some info but it does not impact Velvia 50 120 only larger formats and Velvia 100F (still sad if true since it may be the sign of things to come) with specific reference to the UK. Nothing on Fujifilm websites but large corporations are rarely truthful. IMHO - Digital is not there at least with what I want to see in an image mainly smooth transition of tones.

Ian - Thanks. I hope the rumor is NOT true. I have already lost my Kodachrome and Ektachrome and I am really enjoying my new ventures in film shots on Velvia 50 and that big old Pentax which I actually like better than my old Mamiya 645 (a lot more film area).

Thanks Natalie - BTW - I used a Lee 1.5 HE grad + 4 - Stop ND

Eva, I enjoy your image a lot, especially the color transitions in the sea. Your choice of shutter speed works perfectly for me. The rocks and sparse vegetation in the foreground show delicate details and complement the seascape nicely to me.
