Reflections of Red WC544

After sunrise in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado about 10 days ago, I waited for the sunlit slopes of Red Mountain and the silhouetted firs to reflect off the surface of a small pond. I have inverted the image. Larger image provided.

I love this, Doug. Excellent image. Good eye to get this and an equally good presentation. :toast:

Great job, Doug. I love those streaks of color "in the sky" and how you've got just enough texture in the trees to make clear what they are.

Thank you for the kind comments. Two things I tried doing these reflection shots that morning was to focus on the trees in the reflection, and to manually focus on the ripples in the water and have the trees slightly oof. I think that I prefer the effect by focusing on the ripples.

What a wonderfully artistic image, Doug! The ripples give such a painterly feel to this. I think you were correct to focus on the ripples rather than the trees. I like the colors and the angled streaks in the sky. The angle of the treeline mimics the sky angles and the tree silhouettes provide a nice contrast in angle and color. The "real" strip of grass at the bottom helps ground this picture in reality but I think this image would work well with it or without; depends how abstract you wish to be. Very nice!

Thanks Carolyn. The grass is also a reflection of the grass on the pond bank; the grass is also inverted like the trees.

Well, this one actually works as an inversion. The trees seem to be ascending through fire into the sky. A top-notch reflection.
