Rio Celeste

Here's an image from Costa Rica. This river's sapphire blue waters (which result from a combination of copper and sulphur from the volcano) make for a stunning contrast with the lush green vegetation.

I did not increase the saturation on this image at all. This is really how intense the colors were.

Techs:

Canon 5D, 17-40 @ 32mm
ISO 100, 1/5 @ f/16.

This is one of the locations for my May 2013 Costa Rica Landscape Tour. See the link in my signature for details if you are interested.

Very nice. Even with no increase in saturation surely there were other processing steps to be taken and you did it very well. I love the glow of the different greens.

Very nice light and color, especially the color contrast between the vegetation and the water. If possible, it would have been nice to get a bit higher so that the tree on the right didn't overlap with the leaves on the far shore, but I do like that tree and how it "points" into the frame.

Very nicely done. I like the colors and light, especially the way the top and bottom edges are darker and sandwich the light inside the frame.

Keith, I love the look and feel of this image. The large version really shows the beautiful light and color. Your comp just adds to the already wonderful mood. Very nice!

Spending a lot of time shooting rivers and streams myself it's cool to see something obviously from a different region. The colors are great and I find it interesting that the aquatic plants are so crisp at 1/5 sec. Nice shot. :toast:

I agree with Mark on the tree a bit out of place in lr frame. This is a calming mood shot.

Your photo has a very mystical, magical quality to it. I believe this feeling is created by the soothing looking water, combined with the mysterious darkness along the top and to the right. I'm glad you decided not to reveal detail in those shadows like so many people try to do these days. It adds a sense of mystery, and really helps set the mood.

Very nicely composed with your use of natural framing excellent.
Overall it has a great "flow" to it (pardon the pun).
Love all the lush greens, and the brown leaves FG left grab your eye & add good interest too..
Good choice on the 1/5th shutter, turned out perfect Keith :toast: :toast:
