A cool overcast day,but the hummers were out. Caught this one abit farther off then I liked. The image is a bit soft, but I like the BG, so decided to post the best I got.

Canon T3i
1/320 @ F-11 ISO 800
Canon EF 70-300 IS USM + 1.4 telextender.

IS on , monopod.

Very nice setting to this image and I like the vertical presentation.

Hi John: You say the hummer was a bit further off than you like, so I'm guessing you cropped this. I think I'd loosen up the image if the rest of the image contains flowers like this. The contrast seems a bit high to me which is making you lose some detail in the areas where the flowers are brightest (flowers can be really tricky).

I like the environment in the image. I do agree with Jim that if you have the space that a little more room around the bird would work well. It seems a little tight to me.

Thanks for the comments. I have reworked the photo and gave the hummer more room. I think I like the repost best. I was about 20 feet from this hummer. I had set up about 8 feet from bushes hummers were using to rest in when I noticed this one off to my side feeding on the flowers. I knew if I tried to move closer it would most likely fly away.

Your repost is great! I like the soft look to the whole picture and vertical presentation. Sometimes a bit soft is better than hard edges. :toast:
