Yeah, it's been quite a long time since I have posted anything here. Mostly, it's because I have been a non-shooter since January. Nothing bad, just haven't had the time. I was able to get out recently and will be returning to the beach more often in the next few weeks.

Inspiration for this came from Jesse Speer. His recent black and white portfolios are just stunning. So, I decided to do some archive searching and found this slice. It's basically the foreground half of an image...the rest of the shot has the ocean and sky. While it's not the colorful wildflower scene or amazing lighting/monsoon storm image that you see on NPN, at least it's a post from me

Hey Jimmy - glad to see you posting again, and a darn neat shot too. I like the somewhat abstract nature of this and your composition. Very nicely done. Also, I agree that Jesse Speer's recent work is wonderful!

Different and very interesting. Both in a good way! Smooth textures with a sense of fast motion and a slight hint of perspective. Nice.

Mood, tonality, movement, lines, and shapes. All captured perfectly, Jimmy, and that makes art! :toast:

Yeah, Jesse's raised his own personal bar again.

A very nice seascape abstract Jimmy. I like the rock line and silky water action.

This is a very artistic portion of your original work. The edges of the rock, the lace like cuts in that rock and the sweeping water all come together almost flawlessly here. Not only was b&w a good choice, but it was almost the only choice for this scene. A minor nit is how the shadowed areas all seem to blend together in the bottom left corner, losing definition in the process. But all in all, this is really excellent!

Beautiful...like a bridal veil or a silk curtain in the night. The contrasts in texture are wonderful. Great image

I really like this one. I can relate to that type of photography. This has a very artsy feel to it, and it is artsy, not just stylized, it has style. Very good work.

Awesome b&w Jimmy. Just enough texture in the rock to make it appealing. The square image works well with the diagonal of the subjects from corner to corner. Very well done. Looking forward to seeing more of your work posted. Hope things are going well.

The balance of masses and tones, and the flowing water make this a splendid image... It is simple, and still it is a full world...

Been wondering where you've been, Jimmy. Glad you have those archives. The strong edge is a nice focal point for the image. Wondering about pushing on the whites a bit more. They seem a little grayed down, but against the strong dark shape, it's really hardly noticeable.

Yes--TK nailed it! I almost thought my eyesight was failing until i read his comment. You need to pick a white point and go with it, man. Otherwise, its a fantastic comp.
