Light in the Woods

First light in the Big Horn National Forest. Don't know if this comp works. It's a very small area of forest and I'm uncertain about the horizontal line of the logs in the fg. Do they block access to the rest of the image? Critiques always appreciated. Thanks for looking.

"Do they block access to the rest of the image?"
Not to my eye they don't. In fact, I find them appealing because they mirror the two standing trees and the dual tree trunk shadows in the swath of light quite nicely. I don't know if you planned it that way, but for those reasons I find this to be a wonderfully engaging image!

I like the light coming through the forest and the shadows. I'm not completely sold on the logs but without them you wouldn't have much to look at in the foreground for interest. Pretty good image overall Nancy.

The horizontal logs do tend to go against the vertical flow of light, but I agree that without them the image would not be as interesting. A difficult capture with the backlit sun, but nicely done and I like the highlight sparkle through the branches.

I think that the logs are cool and the BG warm helps bring the composition together. The light is just beautiful. Lovely shot.

The light streaming through the trees makes for a gorgeous image. The logs are more anchors than blocking access to me. Excellent work with the exposure.

The light is great and I think you set it off nicely with the logs and the trees on the left. If you want to focus more on the light and less on inviting the viewer into the forest, I'd suggest cropping off the bottom log. To me, that creates a very different viewing experience.

yes. That was easy...
EDIT: dang, i read the rest of the comments and now i have to make it more difficult :frown: Anyhow, to make a long story short, the subject just doesnt work for me, you could remove the logs, but then as others have mentioned, there's not enough interest. Maybe if you had found an angle that lines up the logs with the sun rays--i dunno.
