Alpe di Siusi Morning

This photo was taken during a photo workshop that I led in the Dolomites in October 2011 with 10 photographers. It was one incredible morning with fog over the landscape and sun coming down through it. We all got some really nice pictures from this morning.

The camera is a 1Ds mkIII and the lens Canon 24-70 f/2.8L. Post processing is done from a single RAW file in Lightroom 4.1.

You were in a great position at the right time and nailed the shot. Very Nice, late sleepers always miss out on the best time of day.

Great light Hans. The ridges on right side look funny (outline) to me and do not match small ridges on left frame.

Wow! Exactly the right moment and point of view to capture the magical effect of the Sun on the fog. The inclusion of the trees on the right, emerging from the fog and shadows is fascinating. The shadows on the surface of the fog layer, combined with the details below the surface of the fog is kind of like looking at an aquatic scene that shows the views both above and below the water line.

This is such a unique image and scene. It is almost other-wordly. Great moment to capture. Done very well. It's hard to tell if you are standing on a mountain, in a tree, or on the ground! Great job creating a fascinating photo that I could look at for hours.

Hmm superb natural looking colours silky smooth appearance and utterly majestic lighting with flare that is delicately appropriate around those trees without ever becoming intrusive. Gorgeous shot.

What a beautiful picture. I love the lighting and how the sun is peeking through the tree - what an amazing composition. I also like how the rays of light are spreading throughout the frame. Good image. The only thing I don't like is the cloud in the upper right hand of the frame - to me it is a litlte distracting. But, on a scale of 1-10 I give this a 9.8
