trees on a sandy hill
by Catherine Gagne
I took this at Cranes Beach in Ipswich, MA. I thought that just a small section of a fence being in an unexpected setting added to the starkness of the scene and made it more interesting.
I used a Kodak dx 6340 digital camera on auto settings. No touch ups or changes have been made to the photo. Hope you like it as much as I do.

1 commentsThis is a nice scene, but there are a few things I would critique here. I'm curious too as to what it is that you like and were attracted too. I do like how the pines fill the upper frame and blue sky behind makes for a nice color combination. The dunes behind give us a sense of place.
The fence post I'm not sure about in the composition. Perhaps unexpected as you came upon this scene, but from a composition point of view, I feel that it's "blocking" scene and at least for me, takes away from the natural environment.
You did well with your exposure and color balance. I think this would be a nice location for a time in the day where the sun was lower on the horizon to give this a warm glow.
Unfortunately too, I'm going to be moving this to the Man & Nature gallery after posting my comment because of the prominent presence of the fence. This gallery is for landscape images without the hand of man. If you have any questions about that please don't hesitate to contact myself or another moderator.
Thanks for posting and we look forward to more images and for your participation in the galleries by providing comments to other members as well. Welcome!
