Rainy sunflower

Last weekend, a minor miracle happened: we got significant rain in central Kansas :). Most of the heavy stuff was overnight. During the day on Saturday, the showers came and went. I was photographing in the Dominican Sisters' garden, when one of those showers hit. I photographed this sunflower on the way back to the car. 7D, ISO 400, f/11, 1/160, 300mm, cropped to format. C&C always welcome and appreciated.

Very nice image. Beautiful colors and wonderful detail. Larger image is way better. Agree with Dennis about the rain drops. Adds a lot.

Rob
Beautiful sunflower shoot. Like the black bg and the rain drop.
The blur leaf at the bottom is a little distracting. May work better with the square crop excluding the blur leaf. Like this a lot

This is very nice, Rob,beautifully composed. I especially like the petal textures and the droplet, which show up beautifully on the black ground. In the bottom L and middle there are a few lines ( leaf veins ? ) I might clone out - otherwise an excellent image.

Well, the rain isn't dampening this flower's spirits.
Excellent dof, and the streaks of rain add more to an already nice image.

This is one where you have to look at the large version to really appreciate it. The details in the petals and the rain drops are great. I also like the stem angling in from the right. My first reaction to the streaks in the background was to get rid of them, but the more I look, the better I like that you left them in. Very Nice!

Thanks everybody. I debated on the rain streaks, but I like them. I wondered about the greenery in the lower right, and will have to do something about it. Have a great weekend.

Rob - Very tastefully done. Some nice lighting and excellent sharpness. Water drops, the small ones and the big one add to the aesthetics.

Agree with the suggestions provided that the foliage in the lower RC can be cleaned up. I see two streaks in the lower left quadrant and two in the upper right quadrant on my monitor. Not sure what they are.

I like the background and color, Rob. Nicely composed, too. I agree about the bottom corner.
A beautiful image.

The lay out of this image is superb. The subject, the use of your space, and the colors are great. You know know the feeling you get here is a dramatic one and I enjoy it. What I would have liked to of seen was was a slight increase in lighting on a portion of the flower to give it a feeling of the sun shining down on it.
