I used my canon EOS7D with my canon 300MM f2.8lens. 1/200 f11, aperature 3200. We were on a tour boat in Seward Alaska.

Hi Nancy, I am moving this to the Avian Gallery where it belongs.
This is indeed some majestic eagle. The blown highlights unfortunately do detract from my overall appreciation of the image.

Certainly a majestic eagle! As it is - you captured a nice pose Nancy. The image is nicely composed (perhaps a small bit could be cropped from the top, to remove the clump of leaves in the top left corner - but that's minor). At this size, it seems to be sharp, and that intense stare is something. Sure looks like this guy has locked on to some prey - or an intruder!
If you wanted to go further with this, it will depend on how much you like to work in software - but you could try reducing the contrast a bit, then open the shadows while also trying to recover some of the blown highlights. The goal behind this would be to get a few more details in the feathers of the eagle, either the dark or the white ones.
This guy must have been quite impressive to see in person! Thank you for sharing

Hi Nancy. I see eagles with some regularity where I live, but never get over being impressed by these stunning raptors. Nice job catching him at eye level. I do agree with the previous two commenters. Whenever I have bright sky in my viewfinder I know I am going to make some adjustments in my camera settings. I would suggest dropping the iso as low as possible to allow maximum dynamic range, 3200 iso is overkill imho. My camera doesn't see f1 very often, usually want to soften backgrounds and reduce distractions with limited dof whenever possible (ie. would have shot this at f4 or there abouts). Just my opinion for what its worth.
