Little skipper

Nikon D300, 150mm, F/6.3, 1/400, ISO 200.

I am never able to photograph butterflies, this year is no exception. They never give me time for a good shot, this little skipper saved the day for me. Hope you find it up to the high standards at macro, comments appreciated.

That looks like one tiny little skipper! The reds look slightly over saturated but otherwise a sweet image!

Hi Albert. The sharpness of the skipper is great and I do like how the oof coneflower leads my eyes to the BF. The bright green background is a nice addition

Excellent comp, colors and bg, Albert! Good detail in the skipper. To me skippers are one of the most difficult butterflies to photograph because they are so small compared to some of the other butterflies and they move around so quickly.

As noted by Eirini, either the skipper is small, or the coneflowers are BIG in your neck of the woods. I like the perspective, both in regard to the eye level view and the relationship of the skipper to the coneflower, and the perfect detail on the skipper. :toast:

Nice job on the plane of focus, Albert. The Skipper looks like it's nice and crisp.

I like the detail in the butterfly, but find the large amount of OOF flower to be distracting. For me anyway, you could crop off about half of the purple cone flower. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Albert,
I think you broke your string of hard luck with butterflies. This one is a real keeper, especially for skippers, which don't often sit for a portrait. Excellent details, and including the large flower helps us see how small it is.
