Track Truck

Hi everyone! My dad and I just returned from Alaska and the Yukon!

While we were headed back to Whitehorse after a great week of wildlife photography, my dad spotted an old truck all rusted out in the forest. We had to photograph it of course! So we started getting some "truckscapes" and then got closer to get some abstracts. While I was photographing the side of the truck my dad yelled out "No way!! Jaye, you gotta get over here!!". I went to the other side of the truck only to see bear cub tracks all over it!

While it was awfully sad to see this human "leftover" in the middle of the forest, we both thought it was a cool statement that least one of the area residents had left its mark on top of what was left behind.

I will share a couple more photos once I have the chance to process them!

Well, bear tracks was not my first guess. I first thought human but didn't seem right. Nice abstract with great complimentary colors. I might like to see a little more of the print in the URHC but works regardless.

Thanks for the comment Peter! I know what you mean about the tracks on the right corner, but sadly the edge of the truck is right there!

Well, Jenaya...different strokes for different folks, but I have to say in my biased opinion this should have WAY more comments. This is an unusual and very graphic image. The colours and tonality are, to me, mesmerizing, and the inclusion of the bear tracks makes such a cool environmental statement. I could envision this as one in a series of fine-art prints of your images of this forgotten old truck. I can't refer to your images as captures here...you worked hard for every angle and waited for better light...they are indeed creations of photographic art. Nicely done, to say the least. I like how you had the orange primer paint (?) Frame the bottom and love the textures you managed in an awfully smooth surface! The glow on the right is another element that puts this over the top for me.

I guess I don't know if it's pure environmental photojournalism, but it sure is great art!

Great find, and great eye to compose this.
Bears are very curious, and climb all over everything!
Sounds as if you had a great trip - I'm looking forward to your images!

Congrats on the DOUBLE WP - this is a very fine image, for all the reasons your dad outlined.
Way to go!

Great image. Plenty of old junk to photograph in the Yukon and Alaska.
