Swamp Sparrow

From Bombay Hook yesterday at first light. I'm not sure about the bird being so centered, but wanted to include the "fall" leaves and seed pods.

50D, 500mm, ISO 200, 1/125, F5 LARGER version also posted.
Thanks for your comments/critique!

Nice sharp details Sharon, I like the spread leg stance & catch-light in this handsome sparrow.
I might suggest a slight + in the contrast, & a very small decrease in overall brightness to improve this.
As far as the crop? I would crop a bit more off the RT, since you've come right to the edge with those seeds pods anyway.
Great as posted, well done :wavey:

This looks really good to me as posted Sharon, I don't think it's all that centered with the bird's tail fairly near the right edge. A fine shot of a tough species :toast:

Sweet light, nice pose,, and the touch of fall leaves and seed heads adds a lot. Doesn't bother me at all if there is a good reason to have an image more centered than ideal.

Sharon,
I too like this shot as posted. Good detail and BG with a lot of interest. Nothing wrong with a centered subject IMO, this works well. :toast:

Small crop from the rear and bottom. Also, I cheated a little with minor cloning in two places..
Slight > in contrast & slight < in brightness.

Howard...I like your crop and the removal of the twig from behind the head helps. Thanks for the help...Sharon

Sharon, sparrows make nice photos! Interesting lighting in this and I do like it. The bird is very nicely detailed, just like I prefer. You do have a winner.

Only thing I'd do differently is not center the bird so much. Just my 2 cents. A FINE photo Sharon!

I like the way the light shows off the bird and perch plus the background really compliments the image, well done.

Looks like a little left over Poison Ivy. I like the habitat, and a good clean look at this beauty. :toast:

Nice image. I like the split leg pose. The wing colors are beautiful and he is nice a sharp. And fall "Leaf".
