The Charge

After posting a very old photo, here's the latest one.
I was shooting a herd of elephants in Corbett National Park, in June this year and one elephant, suddenly decided to charge. While Elephant was charging in forward gear, my jeep was reversing in back gear, I was trying to shoot the elephant, standing on jeep, trying to maintain my balance at the same time. The blurred line you see at the bottom is actually, out of focus hood of my jeep.
Thank you so much for your kind attention & views!

Amazing quality considering your circumstances! Fine detail, the blurry hood is not a problem IMHO. Thanks for sharing this experience.

Cool. I love the extended front foot and my only wish would be for the situation and the hood of your jeep to have given you a little more room at the bottom! I really like the sense of movement accented by the dust, too.

I presume he was dusting himself given the "clouds" around him?

Thanks friends!
Lon, I do have the frames w/o hood, reserved them for the competition.
Morkel, he wasn't dusting, dust was flying because he was running.

I had the same thing happening to me twice in Zambia last week, even though we were at a good distance away a big cow charged us at full speed for about 8 seconds - the longest I have ever experienced. Scary stuff. Glad you survived.

I have visited Kenya, Tanzania (every year from 2004), Botswana, and South Africa and have been sort-of charged by an elephant only once. But, in India, I have been repeatedly charged by these pachyderms so many times that I have lost count! My personal view is that Indian elephants are more short-tempered and tend to charge far more often than African ones. Is that everyone else's view as well?
