Foggy castles

Grain elevators are sometimes referred to as "Kansas castles", and if you have ever seen one rising from the prairie, gleaming in the sun and visible from miles away, you could understand this comparison. I took this Sunday morning, as the fog over a local sandpit cleared enough to reveal the nearby grain elevators. A Barn Swallow can be seen over the waters of the sandpit. For me, the fog provides the perfect screen over the not so sightly elements between the sandpit and the elevators. 7D, ISO 200, f/11, 1/320, 124 mm, small crop. C&C always welcome and appreciated.

This is a very cool scene. The fog really enhances the industrial feel of the grains. I have mixed thoughts about the bird. I might consider cloning it, but I am on the fence.

Are those the old Bunge elevators around 7th Street in Kansas City? Maybe not. I think elevators are what defines the skyline on the prairie.

Harley, I can see your point about the swallow, but I think it also adds something to anchor the foreground.

Kent, these are in Great Bend, in central Kansas. Grain elevators are the skyline in rural Kansas :).
