The King's Valley

hi folks,

here's another image of a location that i had not been able to visit during my first stay in patagonia. looking up to fitz roy from the valley directly below.

i chose a long shutter speed to blur the fast moving clouds… had been thinking about blending in a shorter exposure of the stream but i actually really liked the extra soft feel of the water.

Parque Nacional Los Glaciares, Argentina

Canon 5DMKII, EF 17-40 @ 17mm, GND, Lee Pro Stopper
ISO 100, f/11, 120 seconds
two exposures blended for DR, processed in LR and PS (TKs luminosity masks)

best,
joerg

Oh wow. That is amazing Joerg! That's a perspective of the Fitz Roy I've never seen before. All I can say is wow!

What a fantastic scene. As far as I know, an original comp of the Fitz as well. Personally, I'd be inclined to go darker with the whole foreground/landscape shadows and midtones (perhaps preserving the FG highlights as they are), and then give the sky a bit more punch, as I believe that would enhance the mood. That's just me though, it totally works as-is. Very nice.

Never seen this view before; it works really well. I'm personally happy with the lighting levels as presented.

Excellent use of the wide angle Joerg. Those glacier blues are fantastic. Wouldn't change a thing, must have been a great moment and the sky cooperated as well. The texture of the sky does go with the exposure for the water, so a good choice for me. :toast:

Awesome shot Joerg! Usually, that water would be a little too cottony for my tastes, but I think it works great here. Powerful image! :toast:

Wow, Joerg, this is a stunning shot. Such a fantastic perspective. I wouldn't change anything about the photo. Would be nice to see a large version, however.

This is just Stunning! Very dynamic, excellent composition. The milky water makes it dreamy or like a fantasy world.

Excellent all round Joerg. Great comp and blend. The sky above the peaks is fantastic... would love to have seem more of that, but I'm sure you've probably got some other shots of it. Almost like the peak on the left is on fire. Great shot.
