Momentary Pause

This doe was crossing ahead of me yesterday but she stopped for a moment to check me out and gave me a nice pose. So I obliged her with a photo. She looks nice and healthy and will be attended to quite regulary by the area bucks once that phase of the rut begins. But not yet. I do enjoy photographing the does as they are usually nice and trim and (usually) very calm, although they do pay close attention to what I am doing. Didn't do much to this image except to resize it. I thought about warming it up a bit but that clipped a lot of the blue on the left so it stays as shot. I forgot to turn down the ISO after the sun got up so this has a much higher than necessary shutter speed for a deer standing still. Comments and critiques welcomed and appreciated.

Hi Peter, she does look like a well fed healthy doe. I like the earthy colors and the low contrast feel you captured. I might warm the colors a little to give a slightly more inviting ambiance. Wow, did I say "ambiance"?

I like the pose you caught her in. Nice of her to stop for you. Nice detial and colors in her coat, but it does seem just a bit soft in the face. Thanks for sharing. I have enjoyed this series of deer photos you have posted.

Healthy and calm make for a serene mood. I would be looking for future pose variations, such as getting some space between legs so all four show.

Peter here is an example of what i was saying about your last doe picture. The light here really helps separate the doe. :toast:
