Peregrine Falcon
by Angela McCain
Rob Palmer belongs to this Peregrine Falcon. Somewhere in NE Colorado. September, 2012
D4. ISO 1250. 300/2.8. f5.6 1/3200s +0.7EV. In fog.
I recently had a chance to visit Denver and spend a half day with Rob Palmer and his falcon, Freya. We initially met up in unexpected DENSE fog and drove for about 2 hours trying to get out from under it. We eventually made it to light fog and heavy clouds. (Hence the high key nature of this image).
We stopped and moved into a field where I enjoyed watching Freya fly and hunt. Here she is sitting on top of his car stretching before flight. I will post a flight photo later.
She is an amazing bird and the affectionate interaction between Rob and Freya was a pleasure to observe. XOXO between them.
I highly recommend visiting him to anyone interested in falconry. He is a great teacher and photographer.

The high-key treatment works well here.
Sounds like a place I should visit!
