Opal Creek Wilderness is a federally protected old growth forest. Opal Creek with its emerald pools and numerous waterfalls winds through the forest.(See gallery of Danny Laureys for some beautiful shots of Opal Creek)

In years gone by, mining and logging were attempted, but proved unprofitable. Remnants of those times still remain in the forest. Junk or a piece of history? You decide.

This is totally cool Allen. I love it. Great composition of a nostalgic old scene. Interesting photographic story here.

I think the photo tells a story almost by itelf. Environmental? History? Junk? I guess that's really for the viewer to decide...I think it tells about the history of the area. Well done!

This is so common here in Alaska. I don't mind too much as long as the old cars aren't adding any pollution. It is fascinating to watch nature reclaim these old things. In the end it would probably be better if they just removed them.

Allen I love the concept, composition, colours and tones in this image. Really neat stuff. As I was scrolling down to post a comment, I noticed it looks VERY cool as a pano, which has the added benefit of removing the bright upper right corner...IMO it makes the mood and feel even stronger, reducing the image to only greens, browns and dark shadows. Very evocative.

You've pulled out a great comp here, I fall heavily on the 'piece of history' side Allen
Well done & congrats! :toast:
