Nice action, shot Richard. What I like about this is how the bear is "framed" by the splash. We get a nice clear look at the face and paws. The left side seems somewhat empty, but I understand why you went with this crop. Works for me.

Terrific action, beautifully captured !!
I just love the splashing water...just wondering if it is possible to bring out more detail in water in front. Off course, I'm missing the larger post.

Awesome shot Richard! There's a strong 3D feel for me, that splash creates a great FG/BG barrier :toast:

Hi Richard,

Lots to like about this image - great action, nice setting, nicely composed, love the look at the claws, the very "determined" look on the bear's face, and more. Very well done - just a great capture.

On the processing end - there are two things that I can suggest (and both are in the personal preference category) that would make this image work even better for me - drawing out a little more light-on-light detail in the splashing water (via a very selective adjustment to contrast) and perhaps taming the greens in the background just a little - they seem pretty punchy (almost Velvia-ish!). But as I say - completely personal preference issues.

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

I don't know how close you were to get this shot, but holy #%@&! I think the airborne water frames the bear nicely and serves to emphasize the dof. Great!
