Black Bellied Plover

Sorry for not participating much lately in Avian, but I've had a pretty dry spell the last couple of months, as the tides and wind haven't been in my favor around here. I found this cooperative BBPL on the beach in Gulfport this morning. Unfortunately the bird was browsing around a good bit of beach debris left over from Isaac, but I watched and photographed this bird for about 30 minutes and was able to manage a few frames in fairly clean surroundings. Cropped to 85% of original, larger image included.

Nice! Especially like the water and beach layers - a smooth and effective transition. Nice pose, bright eye, and fine detail in the plover.

Lovely crisp image, you really nailed the exposure and sharpness is perfect. I don't see many shorebirds unfortunately, gotta love the nomenclature of this group of birds - sorry, not seeing a "black belly".

Bill, I like this a lot! Excellent IQ, nice low perspective, bird and setting look very good. Perhaps my favorite of yours that I've seen. Very well done.

I like the low perspective on this as the water and sand lines really make for an complimentary background. Nice patience to get this, the larger image looks great, way to go.

Good looking image. The background is very clean and you have excellent detail in the bird. I like the low angle you have achieved.
