robins eggs

I'm guessing that I posted this in the right gallery...if it needs to be moved, than move it.

This photo was taken in the spring...a robin decided our deck was the perfect place to make a home. I couldn't take too long or mess with it much, as the unhatched babies depend on their mother for warmth. I did try to lighten the shadow on the egg, but the egg looked wierd, so I left it as is. I did crop it (on my computer it looks fine, so if there's any noise or anything I can't see it).

EOS Digital Rebel xs
f/4
1/60 sec
ISO 400 ( I need to get in the habit of messing around with the iso)
flash was used, no tripod

Holly, this is a nice documentary photo, Robin eggs are pretty! In this image, lighting is less than ideal and my preference would be to see both eggs in their entirety. Lighting seems a bit too strong.

The blue of robin eggs always shocks me, just seems so unusual compared to the typical drab beige and grey eggs more typical in the avain world. I like the if focus/out of focus feel of the nest material. I too would like to see the entirety of the eggs in the frame. Egg photos are always a little bit controversial, since we know the eggs are cooling - but sounds like you were sensitive to this fact.
