This is a photo of the sun going down this summer in Northeastern California while the wildfires were raging. I was up the mountain in the forest, and had a hard time finding a clearing to take the photo from. I had just enough time to shoot a few handheld shots before the sun disappeared down into the smoke.

Canon 60D, f14, 1/50 sec., iso 1000, at 400 mm (100-400 lens), handheld.

What a dramatic and beautiful shot. Living in SW Oregon we know this kind of environment. Excellent.

I really like the contrast between the horizontal bands of light and the vertical framing elements. Well seen.
