Foggy Aspen

The day after a long trip to the Great Smoky Mountains and back we had a wonderful foggy morning with the sun shining through. This doesn't happen often around here, so I was happy to have that kind of shooting conditions. The biggest challenge was waiting for the fog to burn off a little.

Nikon D800, 70-200 mm, tripod

ISO 100, 1/8 sec @f16

As always C&C appreciated

Most sensitive work for me, Tom. You cautiously kept the right amount of saturation and contrast, impressively conveying the atmosphere to me.

Tom, very nice. I love shooting in these conditions. The larger image shows excellent detail in the aspen leaves and tree trunks. I think you could try boosting the contrast a bit and still retain the soft look and detail.

The tight comp worked well for this grove of aspen. I completely agree---waiting around for a shot can be a challenge.

Even without the fog, this would be an image of wonderful comp and color. The fog-light adds an nice dimension.

A lovely scene, just the right amount of contrast with the trunks in my opinion. A gorgeous Fall image. :toast:
