Jupiter's Dream - Engadin lakes, Switzerland

Recently I got very inspired for night shots, after I read Floris' great article, and from Alex Noriega's excellent night images.
( thank you guys!)

Last week I was in Engadin and the clear skies and the early setting moon was ideal. (although there was a little too much light pollution from a nearby village)

Plus there was a nice surprise: it turned out it was the Orionid meteor shower.
I've seen many falling stars with my eyes, and the camera was catching some with the 30sec. exposures. There is even a picture with 6 meteors in it! (Although most of them very small and faint)

This picture was taken on saturday night/sunday morning.
In the middle is the Orion constellation, and in the upper right is the planet Jupiter.

Details:
Canon 5D mII + EF 17-40 f/4 (not the best for night photography :-)

3 images manually blended:

1. sky - 30 sec at f/4 ISO 1250
ca. 1 hour before sunrise

2. Mountain and water
1 min. at f/4 ISO 800

3. trees in shadow
15 sec at f/7.1 ISO 400

Thanks for looking, comments and critique are welcome

Shantikara

Looks very natural, and I like the detail plus the subtle colors. The blend is excellent, and I bet you had quite the night enjoying the meteors!

Wonderful! I really like the sky gradient, and the light on the mountain is perfect. Skillfully captured and 'developed'!

Great job! Looks quite natural, with just and that hint of dawn in the sky adds a nice touch of warmth to what would otherwise be a very chilly picture. I also really like the star reflections in the water.

Very nice. I like the spare comp where the individual elements (water, mountains, and stars) come through so nicely.

The clarity is striking Shantikara. I like the fact that the star are points and not streaks. Wonderful blending technique.

Beautiful - so very quiet and serene - seems like you could hear a whisper across the water.

Looks great, Shantikara! Perfectly handled. This would work quite well as a 3:4 or 4:5 as well, I'm sure (but it's great in 2:3 as is, too). Glad to hear I helped inspire you!

You and Bill keep showing me that I should stay home for some time and photograph my own country before heading to others. This is an inspiring image. Fantastic! I don't have much more to say than that! :toast:
