Been a long time since I've been around but saw that there was a wwweby spider theme for the gallery and I couldn't resist. Not sure what this spider is other than large and scary, we found them by accident while turning over leaves looking for tree frogs.

Canon 5DMIII, Canon 100mm f/2.8L, Canon MT-24 flash. Handheld. f/22 at 1/125th ISO 200.

An incredible capture of a fascinating creature. Have no idea about an ID.

Wow, Hali, very impressive capture of what looks like some type of wolf spider. The light is superb (expert use of the flash) as is the detail. :toast:

Outstanding image for it's great detail, color and composition. Like Scott I immediately thought wolf spider and would think this may be a specie of that family. Hats off for one splendid image.

Hali, great lighting and comp here! This is a very 'refined' presentation, which I like very much!

Very scary large, looks like it's gonna pop out of the monitor!
Great use of your flash, nice 'hairy' details and excellent quality Hali :toast: :toast:
PS - Looks like a relative of our "Wolf Spiders" (Lycosidae) here in Texas..
