Something excellent! I don't have enough superlatives to praise this one. It renders me speechless and that is nearly impossible.

I think you just raised your already high bar a little higher - this is phenomenal! The composition, the mood, everything is just superb. My only suggestion would be to consider lightening the reflection a little, as right now it draws my eyes downwards away from the horizon. Small nit on an otherwise truly excellent image!

Absolutely stunning, David. Your imagery of these trees and swamps is always a joy to see but this piece brings an entirely new feel, an entirely new experience to the viewer. You must have spent a tremendous amount of time getting this composition just right and it could not be any better. Exquisite work, exquisite art.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone.
Floris,,,,,I had lightened the shadow a bit but will go back to the master file and do a bit more.
Chris,,,,,even though it goes against the spirit of your signature line,,,,, ,,,,,here goes.
5d2, 70-200@70mm, 30 sec, f11, iso 800, tripod, wading
Vance,,,,,,my usual mode of operation is to be out well before sunrise and to slowly wade along the shore looking for things to line up. Sometimes things just come together. If nothing else I'll have a nice paddle and stroll.

If I were you, I'd consider putting the camera on eBay and taking up stamp collecting; I'm not sure how you can top this. This is one of the more evocative images I've seen in awhile, and one of my favorites on NPN this year. Masterfully processed, the BW allows the eye to focus on the subtle beauty of the shapes. It's a masterful comp, especially the way the background trees match the foreground tree (taller left, shorter right). The way the background trees are progressively lost in the fog gives a surprising depth.

You take image design and comp to another level, David. this image (as all your cypress images do) says to me : slow down and look and think.

A portrait of these amazing trees if ever I saw one. I might try to match the brightness of the FG tree reflection with that of the other 2. Looks like they are sitting on a glass table. Wonerful shot and procesing.

Wow, wow, wow!!! The only thing that might beat your color images of cypresses may be this B&W. This is incredible David. I love that the horizon is non-existent. Masterfully crafted and executed. I think this may be my all time favorite of yours!! I certainly hope you plan on printing this large! 5 outa 5 on my scorecard!

Outstanding! The trees seem to be floating in the fog. A miniscile nit might be to have just a slight amount more space on the bottom to so the reflection of the left group is not touching the frame edge.

UNBELIEVABLY GORGEOUS! Asian graphic arts meets American swamp photography and the offspring outshines them both.
Actually, I love all of your work that I missed recently when I have not been online much, but this one is really unique.
