Walking on Sunshine

I spent a few days on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina this week. It was a family vacation and not a photo outing so I took very few shots while I was there. I did get out for sunrise one morning but it was one of those cloudless mornings that make for a dull sunrise. I was playing around and caught this gull walking down the beach and caught it just as it and the sun were in the frame. Kind of fun even if it's not a great photo. I really had a hard time deciding to post and then which gallery to post in.

It was shot at ISO 3200 (by accident). I had been shooting birds in flight and forgot to turn the ISO back down. Gave me a nice 1/400 sec exposure at f/11 and the noise is not too bad on the 5Dii.

The colors here are quite engaging. The seem a little off, but still work quite well.

I like the light catching the tops of the waves. The sea gull looks very pompous. Nice portrait

I agree with Tony that the colors seem a little bit off. But i love the reflecting colors on the beach in the foreground. I would crop a bit from the top since there's not much going on. It seems a little bit tilted.

The colors aren't 'off' --theyr'e super-saturated, which i assume is because it was a 'dull sunrise'. It's pretty though, even if the believability factor is a bit missing. My only real gripe is the sun is a bit too far on the side. :wavey:
