Great Blue Heron at Key Vista in Hudson, Florida

1/2000 at f8 and ISO 500
Canon 500mm with 1.4 TC
Canon 7D

Was watching this Great Blue Heron fishing on the beach when he got this fish. In the process of tossing the fish so he could swallow it head first, the fish flipped away.

I like the view of the eye on the fish as he makes his escapt

Great image. I just love the fish eye. Nice DOF to get both the bird and the fish in sharp focus. I might try and bring up the whites just a bit to take away the gray cast.

Unique, and quite whimsical. I agree with Angela about bringing up the tones slightly on the heron (do a selection first to protect the rest of the image and especially the fish.

Even herons lose their prey! Wonderful action shot and I'm so glad the fish lives another day. Great story telling image Scott.

Now that makes me chuckle. it looks like the heron is saying, "now where did he go", and the fish is saying "Hey Mr. Heron, I can fly too !!!" At any rate that is my version.
