A spectacular sunrise on St. Ann's Bay on the sunrise side of Cape Breton Island. Not much else to say except this is film image taken with my Pentax 67II and Velvia 50 film. Thanks for looking.

Spectacular is right, Eva. I love the light and velvia color, and the rocks in the LRC nicely balance the setting sun. I am making long range plans to visit Cape Breton and NS next fall, inspired in part by your beautiful images of the area, so thanks for sharing them.

I must say Eva, you caught some beautiful light, and the colors are really amazing. Very well seen and presented.

Having seen lots of sunrises, sunsets, and images of them, I noticed the word "Pentax" in your post :)
So, that said, the following things happened in my awareness when I saw your image:
First, the sun; there appears to be an island off to the right behind where it is arising.
That is off on the right and I think it forms a diagonal with the close rocks on the lower left. That is one contrast.
In terms of clouds, there are is the cloud formation on the lower left just above the horizon versus the one on the upper right, and how the mind starts to see "beings" in both.
In terms of form, you have the wavy water and the water-worn soft, smooth surfaces of the rocks, losing the ultimate shape battle, but doing so magnificently, standing above the water's surface but yet feeling like part of it.
So my eye is taken, then, from those ancient rocks on the lower left across the water in the direction of the island and rising sun.

This one's a WOW, Eva. From comp to light to color. It's these kind of moments that keep bringing us back at ridiculous hours isn't it?

You continue to capture these intense sunrise and sunset type scenes with excellent technical results, Eva. Beautiful work.

Eva,
Yet another glorious sky and wonderful seascape. I might go so far as to say another "nuclear" event on the horizon! ;-)
Compositionally I'm a little torn as this is a 50/50 split, but I can't really see cropping this (either top or bottom) for a thirds type comp. The light and color in the water of the LR quadrant is wonderful!
You sure have witnessed and captured some gorgeous skies!

Eva: Gotta love Velvia. In general I'm not a fan of horizons at the midpoint of the frame but I think each half is impactful enough to justify this comp. Beautiful scene superbly captured. >=))>

Beautiful sunrise, Eva, great job on what must have been a tricky exposure!

A splendid and relaxing picture, beautiful colors and light. Sunrises and sunsets can be a little rethorical, but this is excellent. I like it a lot, and personally I do like to 50/50 split between Air and Water (with a touch of Earth and a good share of Fire)...

The 50/50mworks real well here! Beautiful scene. Love the h2o exposure! One very minor suggestion: maybe back off the cloud clarity just a tad, i think softer might work better for this sky/scene.

This one doesn't have the comp that Sunset Reflection II does, but that color at the top is rocking.
