Currituck Lighthouse

This is the Currituck Lighthouse in Corolla, NC on the northern outer banks. This was taken about 11 pm this past weekend. It was cold & very clear.

This is a blend of several images of light painting on the trees and lighthouse, and one for the stars. I've done these types of shots on lighthouses, but most are stand-alone and not grouped in the trees like this one. It was tough to straighten everything up after the significant lens distortion.

Canon 5DIII, Nikkor 14-24 @14mm

All shots were 15 seconds, F4, ISO 800 (including stars shot)

Please view large for more detail.

An interesting technique. I like what you have done here, although the pine (the shadow below and within it) are a weak part of the image.

Wonderful image Wick. You light painting really highlights the beauty of this lighthouse. Great sky exposure too.

Tough shot to pull off, but you did extremely well with the lighting and stars and light from the lighthouse. The large version has good detail, too. Well done.
