Season's Turning II

This is a more intimate composition that the previous one, more prominently featuring the pool and the swirling leaves. I used a much longer shutter speed for this one, causing the leaves on the trees to look a little softer due to some movement.

Even though I haven't been participating as much as I'd like to on NPN, I will say I've been stopping by frequently enjoying the images up here lately, definitely including your shots from this area! I like the comp, and the focus on this swirl. Also, the second swirl up in the right corner of the pool is cool as well. I'm guessing you already thought to take two exposures (one for the motion and on for a sharper bg), but seeing the main focus is on the swirl itself, I guess it doesn't make much of a difference. One last thing. I just noticed all the visible rocks underneath the water---I love the contrast of soft, blurred leaves and sharp rocks. Great image!

Yes...this is one I ask for when I saw your last image. Very nice.

Very nice Jim, that swirl is mesmerizing. I even like it as a square comp with just the swirling pool and some rocks. All good.

I also prefer this version, Jim. The effect is very striking, if not somewhat dizzying. :toast:

This is very nice, Jim. Some wonderful fall color and that swirl of leaves in the water is really cool. I like your comp here too.

Wow, I'm always on the lookout for swirling patterns like these, but this is a really good one, including a very nice setting! There is even a 'mini swirl' in the back.... Great picture!

A very cool scene,,,,,both for the comp and technical execution. It looks a bit bright overall to me.

Jim,

Now we're talking! I love this. Great composition; much simpler than the previous image. Great job with the leave swirls too! And thanks to someone for pointing out the transparency and having the rocks visible below the surface - very cool indeed.

I wasn't there so it's hard to comment on color, but these seems to have a lot of magenta in it. The overall color is pretty good and again, just not sure since I don't have a reference. So I'm just talking out loud...

Busy image, but the whirling leaves tie everything together. Very nicely balanced light here.

Another exceptional piece. The whirlpool is nicely featured here in context with it's surroundings. :toast:

Great title Jim! Not usually a big fan of swirling leaves, but this is very cool!

I love it - it took me reading the other comments to notice the rocks beneath the swirl. What a treat! Very well executed. :toast:

I like this a lot! Always wishing to come across more eddies/whirlpools. I love the rich colors, and the details are excellent.
