Barberry branches

Barberry bushes are quite common in our area and in parts of PA are considered invasive. I found these wild Barberry bushes while wandering in some fields and woods of northern PA. In the fall they lose their leaves but retain the berries, at least for a while. I find the fall look and colors attractive, in spite of their nasty thorns.

Very nice use of shallow DOF to place emphasis on the FG berries and the lighting is terrific. I might be tempted to either darken the UR and LR corners to complement the left side thus giving it a vignette look or lighten the left edge and corners to more closely match the tonality on the right..... Nice work.

I really like the "echo" of the similar branch behind. Excellent use of dof and background to create a beautiful image.

The lighting sets off the berries nicely and the warm background works really well. I also like the oof echo. I could see some edge burning along the top to help hold my eyes in the frame.

Carloyn, I actually took a very similar barberry image about a month ago in the local woods. The comp and bg are similar, but mine does not have the nice oof twin in the bg. I really like the light and tones, especially on that rear branch.

Carolyn:
Well composed with the luscious looking berries and the echo in the bg. We use the berries of rose bush in winter for our Ikebana arrangements and like the barberry, the thorns are nasty.

Very nice! I like the warm colors and the oof "echo" branch. I agree with one of Mark's suggestions to lighten the left edge and corners to more closely match the right side.

I like your composition - the diagonal branch and the OOF echo. The warm light and clean background really compliment the berries. Well done!

Beautifully composed image in a sweet light. I really like the way the berries catch the light and the OOF echo.

A beautiful warm and peaceful atmosphere, Carolyn. The berries seem painted. I like very much the soft composition.
Cheers.

Carolyn: This is a really intriguing image. I like the degree of OOF you have with the BG berries and your overall comp. I also really like the light and BG. Very well done.>=))>
