Non Typical Buck

I had seen this big non typical at the local nature reserve but was not able to get close enough for a decent shot. So, I put on full camo gear and picked an area where I frequently saw him. After an hour or so, he came in slowly following a group of does. He saw me, and stared at me for twenty minutes before he finally decided whatever he saw was not a threat. I was then able to get a few decent shots even though the vegetation was pretty dense and t was pretty dark (hence the high ISO). He is looking at the does. I like the odd antlers and the fairly clear view of his eye. I thought he was a pretty regal looking buck.

Critiques and comments welcome.

The antlers definitely are the focal point of this image Jerry! You have a nice catch light in the eye as well and you managed to get an obstructed shot. I do think the image would have been better had he faced towards you rather than away. As it is I would suggest to crop a bit off the right to lose that OOF patch in the BRC. Also some selective sharpening on the buck and NR on the rest would improve the looks.

What a great specimen for your subject! I love those non-typical antlers and hope you will find a way to show us more of them. Here I echo what has been said about having a head turn more to the camera. I think this one would be a fun image to experiment with selective tweaks of brightness and contrast levels to see if you could lift the buck a bit from that darker background.
