'Shroom Family

Washington Park Arboretum; Seattle

Lying on the ground shooting this 'family' has convinced me it's time to get a right angle finder. Anyone using one and care to comment on it's pros and cons?

Great image, Mark! It really does look like a little mushroom family. Don't think I've ever seen mushrooms quite like these; they are quite photogenic. I like the smooth yellow caps and the white hairy stems; great setting too. Wonderful details in the mushrooms and nicely composed. Very nice!

Lol! That is EXACTLY what I thought with my last toadstool image! I have a right-angle somewhere, but can't find it. It was very useful when I did use it.
This is a great image- wonderful colours on the caps, and love the furry stems!
Sweet!

I I fully understand looking for a right angle finder Mark, I probably would have no issue with getting down to the ground level, but, getting upright again is another story. That said, you did a wonderful job capturing these shrooms. Great detail and point of focus.

Mark: What a great find and a delightful image. Really nice stacking as well.

I have a finder and love it for this kind of work. One thing I really like about it for macro work is that it has a 2x magnifier feature to help with critical focus. I just bought a Sony A77 which has an articulating live view screen but I've yet to use it and I'm not sure I'll get the precision I get looking through the finder.>=))>

Very interesting subject. Beautiful light and great detail. Personally I would put the subject more lateral, but is a detail. Very nice photo.

Excellent stack Mark and a very fine exposure. The dof you created couldn't be better in my opinion.

Sorry, can't help with the right angle finder. I've considered getting one myself and still haven't.

I have seen many flower families but no one had a feeling so realistic. The mushroom little boys have a difference in height that may have in a human family.
Excellent composition and photographic quality.
Take care.

Great shot and it wouldn't be the same from a higher perspective.

I have a right angle attachment and love it when I need it. Using it for landscapes is pretty straigh forward. It can get a little wierd when the subject is moving around but with practice works then too.

Mark:

Fabulous image and good stacking!

I do not have a right angle but so do wish for one every now and then but never got down to buying one.

These are so neat! Great use of helicon, too. I like that you left the bg oof. I am jealous of people who have all these types of shrooms...it's too dry in CO most of the time and I have to learn to hunt them much better, also.
I haven't used a right angle finder, so I'm no help there.
