The Belted Kingfisher is one wary bird and this is a great capture.
Nice background to boot :toast:

I've been trying to capture an image of one of these guys since I picked up a camera. Excellent subject, perch, background and action. I'm envious.

Excellent capture Vanessa! A very difficult bird to get close to from my experiences-well worth the wait!

This has everything I could ask for in a Belted Kingfisher photo. The bird is sharp. The exposure is spot on - the white "belt" is notoriously difficult to get right. The fish is a bonus. The perch is lovely. The BG is smooth and complementary.

The only thing I can find fault with is that I didn't take this shot!

Aaaahhhhhh.... My nemesis! Can't even get close to a kingfisher!
This is excellent - tack-sharp, great pose, nice perch and a fish!
Very fine image!

Great shot. I find them so difficult to get near enough to get a good shot. You should be proud of this one.

Vanessa, this is outstanding to get this guy, and with a catch to boot! Although these are quite common in my area, I've never been able to get anything other than one sitting on a wire. Nicely done.
