Snow Light

Larkspur

It's been about a year now since I shot a floral image and this was the last one I made. I liked the light filtered through the snow on the skylight.

Hope you all have a Merry Christmas.

Its been too long Pat, we missed you. Lovely flow to the arrangement... graceful and somehow sensuous. Excellent!

When I first started shooting macro I didn't pay much attention to light, didn't really appreciate how it could enhance or complement the subject like it does with landscape work. I'm slowly coming around to how important light is in defining the macro subject and this is a great example of what I am trying to say. The lighting has made the ordinary, extraordinary.
Great work! :toast:

I really missed your work. Absolutely love the painterly feel to this with the soft light. And, the arrangement is genius.

Pat - This is outstanding. The S curves formed by the branches and the subdued but excellent quality of light makes this wonderful

I echo everyone else's sentiment,Pat, this is beautifully done. The arrangement is excellent with the curvature of the stems, and as always the color, lighting and processing are top notch. Good to see your work around again!

Thanks for the kind comments you all. I appreciate them.

Mark,

The more I do photography, the more I concern myself with the quality of the light. At this point I think of myself as an intermediate level photographer and I judge my development pretty much according to how well I think I'm understanding the light in my images in relation to the subject. For me that's the hardest part to learn. So, I definitely agree with your comment.

Pat, you are the master of these dark floral images! Love the look you get from your lighting. Very artistic comp with the curving stems and the flowers opening at various stages. Even the smoky-looking vase is a perfect fit for this floral grouping and mood. A real work of art, Pat! :toast:

Pat, the chiaroscuro, the curves, the depth of field are so spot on. For an intermediate photographer you sure do set the bar high! :toast: :toast:

Pat: You should not have kept this to yourself. Of course perhaps it got better with age. Outstanding lighting and the always complementary vase. 2 thumbs up! >=))>

This is seriously one of my all time favorite flora images. I have had to re-look at it several times over the past few days! The lighting is exquisite!

Pat,
This is an excellently composed image with lovely flowers in magnific light. I like the flower colors saturation especially the contrast between the flower and the black BG. Well done. :toast:
