This was an image I shot last evening. I was actually hoping to be in a different location, but I had to think quickly as the sun sets much earlier. I took a gamble and drove down a road I've never been down before and came upon Saguaro lake. At first I thought I had blew it, but I hiked out and saw the clouds rapidly changing and found a scene that didn't include rails or buoys. Just like I had predicted though, the sky exploded with color. Comments and critiques appreciated.

Very nice composition and scenery! Great colors in the skies and concurrent reflections, too. You did a fine job of blending the two images, but I wonder if you could burn down the very brightest tones in the water.
It's great to see a unique image from Arizona, and congratulations on the EarthShots Photo of the Day!

Thank you John, I haven't thought about burning those bright areas down, it didn't seem to bother me too much so I probably assumed it didn't need any. I'll give it a second go over and see how I like it. And thank you for the congratulations!

Very nice composition. I think it could be improved if the bright reflections in the water were tones down a bit and the darker clouds on the top were lightened a bit. Looks like a great place.

Peter,
Fantastic colour in the sky. Muting the reflection colours vibrancy would draw the viewer into the scene to the fantastic horizon and cool purple cloud action in the back more. As it stands my eye stops between the two orange areas. They are a little too even to force movement into the scene. :toast:

Gorgeous light, Peter. It is a matter of taste, but you may want to consider toning down the reflections slightly, for a more realistic look. On the other hand, this is aesthetically very pleasing as is. Nice work!

Peter,

Love the colors being reflected at the bottom and how the grasses reach in to that color and help frame the bottom. It's almost like there's two images here, the top and the bottom, but of course the clouds and color tie the two halves together.

Yeah, perhaps a burn down of the brighter reflection would help because the water in general seems brighter than I would expect given the brightness of the sky. But you're not off too much.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, here is a repost with the water toned down as well as the sky slightly brightened up a bit.

Peter, the repost is a lot nicer with the reduced highlights on the water. The sunset color enhances the golden grass nicely too.
