West Fork Winter

Lots of snow in Arizona today. Made a pre-dawn trek to West Fork hoping for a few inches - got a foot of snow with more coming down the entire hike.

Very nice colors!
I like: snow color, trees color, contrast between the two
dislike: distraction from other less important trees (on the right and left of the two main trees)

Love this!
I think it's great just as is - with the main trees and smaller ones at the sides.
Excellent detail in both the snow and trunks.

I like this as much as everyone else. However, while I think it is better in color than B&W would be, I do think that the saturation is over done to the point of distraction. I'm just reporting my personal reaction as I see this on my uncalibrated monitor this Sunday morning. I think that the point I would like to see made by this image would be much better made with the saturation ratcheted way down.

Kurt,

It's almost always a great mix of the pure white snow and the reds of pines (ponderosa maybe?) and this is no exception. This brings me right there and I can just hear the silence (oxy-moron kinda statement I guess.) But really, this does give off a sense of quiet and I can imagine just standing there in the woods, no sound.

I like this a lot, Kirk. Very nicely composed and I like how the tree bark adds some nice color contrast to what is otherwise a monochromatic scene.

A wonderful winter scene. I too really enjoy the contrast of the red pine trunks against the snow. It does feel very quiet and peaceful to me. Very nice work Kurt!
