A shot that almost didn't happen. This was taken after my previous post as I was deciding to head out. I saw a small opening that dropped down to this rocky shoreline that I thought would make a somewhat interesting foreground. Then, I turned around and saw this hint of red just at the horizon. I scrambled down to the rocks and set up this comp and fired a few shots. After a few "long" exposures, I saw that the reds picked up quite nicely in the sky. I intended to keep this more on the dark side as it was actually darker than what is seen in the photo. As always, comments and critiques appreciated.

Excellent. I really like the dreamy sky contrasting with the hard texture of the rocks.

Great Colors and Composition!
I like: Composition, mood, sky color, i like very much the rocks texture and tone
Dislike: over saturated red-orange spots in the sky and the water...

Beautiful sky and reflection Peter. The light on the foreground rocks is also appealing.

Wow! This is beautiful, Peter. The color and glow is wonderful. I love the reflection across the smooth surface of the water.

Peter - The processing looks fine, mighty fine! Maybe too much FG rock, creates too much of a 50/50 split in the image for me. I might crop out a bit of the rocks. Like the darker mood.

Peter,

Wow, the sunset sky is gorgeous enough, but I'm really loving the quiet and warm light on the rock formation up front. Together this is making one beautiful photograph. Hard to find anything to be critical of here, although it does have a bit of a 50-50 comp to it, but can't see anything to change that, I wouldn't crop this at all. So, never mind. ;-)

"A shot that almost didn't happen." I kept reading to try and find out what happened to you? Did you fall, get attacked by an animal? what?  I guess all it was, that you almost ran out of time... I was just hoping you were ok. :wavey:

Thank you everyone for the kind words and suggestions. I didn't think of cropping the bottom, but I see a point that could be cropped down from.

Lon, What I meant was that had I not looked over my shoulder that one last time, I would have never seen the light. I am ok though, and thanks for checking :)

One more for some off of the bottom, but killer sky and reflection.

Looks great. Like the touch of dream. When you read "over saturated" make sure you translate that: "thats over saturated on my monitor, for my taste." I like it as is on my monitor for my taste...

Great shot Peter! Not sure why there are not more comments on this one... I think it's pretty sweet! Great job with the dynamic range and processing!
