Could not come up with a good title for this shot. The comp of this image is all about maximizing detail in the bird. This is very close to full frame I have some room around the bird and I know some people will want more room up by the wing tip, but I went with this comp to show the bird in all it detail.

Please view larger version for max details. Thanks.

Another first rate image IMO. The composition works for me - I like variety in a portfolio so some very tight crops are always worth having when they show this much quality.

Wonderful catch. You have captured the water drops on his chest and a few below him in the air. Like the crop.

The detail on the head and breast is astounding, especially for a BIF, convincing evidence that one can obtain excellent IQ with a teleconverter. The contrast and bokeh really make the subject pop, as they say.

Though the term "wigeon" quacks me up...

spectacular image, Ron B

I agree with your approach to this image. Really excellent detail. How about "Water on a Duck"?

Sweet light and excellent launch capture. The detail is very, very good: shadows from the water drops on the chest. A fine shot, Ron.

Beautiful shot. This is the first time I've been able to closely examine the feather detail of one of these birds.
I wouldn't change anything. :toast:

I love all the water droplets on his chest! The detail is wonderful, it seems I could just reach out & touch him!

Another beauty, Ron. Outstanding detail and pose - particularly in the larger version. The close crop works for me. Phenomenal you could capture this so close hand held. :toast:

Nicely done, Ron. Detail on a BIF couldn't be better. Love the shape of that splayed tail and I'm fine with the tight comp.

Excellent flight shot. I like the great detail, the way the green eye patch shows so well and the landing pose. I think the crop works very well.
