Another orchid from my recent visit to an Orchid Nursery. Enjoy and thanks for viewing.

Floyd: Beautiful bunch and a very nice capture. This image is one that illustrates my conjecture that we tend to be more comfortable in our western culture with images that seem to flow naturally left to right, mimicking our reading flow. Even though it is the same stem, the image "feels" better to me if it is flipped horizontally. I'll be interested in what others think but the bottom line for me is this is a very pleasing portrait no matter how it is oriented. >=))>

That is a beautiful orchid variety. The flowers really pop out from the dark background.

I agree with Bill. Flipped horizontally, the image seems to "read" better. If the bud is at the lower right it acts like the period at the end of a sentence.

Great look at a lovely orchid. I really like the strongly colored column against the lightly mottled petals. The arch of the stem and the buds on the end add nicely to the flow. I don't know how to download and flip the image to evaluate the alternative, but I suspect that your placement of the stem and first flower closer to the right edge adds to Bill and Mark's reaction.

One more vote for flipping. And, yes, it's undoubtedly due to our customs. Excellent lighting and good color.

I actually am not at all bothered by the right to left flow of this! The only thing that bothers me is that there feels to be too much space at the top because the movement is going downwards. Other than that I think it is nicely presented!

Thank you all for your comments. After "Flipping" and cropping the image it does become more eye appealing.
