Silver Gull (Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae) photographed at Lake Tabourie, NSW. Australia has only three species of resident gull. This species is the most common.

Canon 5D MkIII, EF500 f/4 + 1.4x, handheld from a beached kayak, ISO 400, f/6.3, 1/4000, slight crop for composition.

Wow, excellent shot all the way around Simon. The larger image shows wonderful detail on the gull plus the low angle really adds to the image. I also like the darker background for a nice contrast and seeing a thin line of sand in focus by the gull. Well done.

Good shot! Well handled all around: whites, detail focus and comp are just about perfect. I would be tempted to come off the white just a bit to bring up more detail.
