Greater Roadrunner

I've been pretty busy lately with travel and work, so I tend to shoot what is out the back door. I've always heard that Roadrunners will become somewhat domesticated if they feel comfortable in a location. This is one of three adults that likes to hang out in my back yard. They really have little fear of us and will even come over to beg for food if we have the barbecue going. This is how a Roadrunner gets warmed up in the morning...

Very nice subtle details revealed in the larger view Charlie, love the blue in the plumage. I like the way he is posed in the frame, nice comp. I was struck by the similar pose and general body conformation to my Magpie image, I suspect they may play somewhat similar ecological roles.

Beautiful light and colours here.. sweet image with a great pose and very fine detail.
I can barely FIND a roadrunner, and you have them attending your BBQ's!

Very cool, Charlie. The disheveled plumage on the back is neat. Looks like my cat when I give her a "mohawk".

Excellent detail and light and I like the bg.

Wonderful capture of a great backyard bird and some interesting behavior!

Might tone down the highlights of the perch, especially below the bird.

Most of the roadrunners I see in the desert behind our place are not very approachable at all. I like seeing the fluffed up look and there is very nice detail on the larger image. I think these are very interesting birds for some reason.
