Lower Yosemite Falls, California

Guess I should say "Icon Alert". I have only been here once but need to get back especially after being inspired by Lon's, Chris's, Preston's,and Harley's images of this place. In this image the light play on the granite walls intrigued me. We could not do any serious hiking since we had 3 small kids in tow (our two and my sister's). Our oldest son who was 4 at the time (now 24) prompted our trip to Yosemite since he loved waterfalls.

Man! The sharpness is amazing! I have been to Yosemite a few times and it's a place where you can spend a lifetime shooting. You really captured the power of falling water in this shot.

Dramatic shot. The contrast between the water and granite works very well - maybe a good B&W. That is some powerful water. never been there, someday! The real question is, why are we up so late posting! I'm going to bed!

Cant take my eyes off of this, classic film shot, and processed to perfection, love it. Beautiful work Eva.

Many icon shots of this area over the years but all seem to have a certain persona to them, Eva. Not only is this a wonderful composition but the Kodachrome has captured the details perfectly. A truly excellent image all the way around. I'm with John on this one, I had a real long look here too.

Eva, What a great shot! I love looking at this. I'm totally with all the other comments here too. The Kodachrome 64 did a beautiful job here along with your wonderful processing! That was my main film for several years!
Very nice work on this!

This is excellent in it's portrayal of the scale and power of this waterfall, Eva! I still hope to get there someday.
I could see burning in the brighter rocks in the llc. The color looks perfectly natural. Good ole K64.

An intriguing composition to me, Eva, one of the strongest I remember. The subdued light on the rocks at the left makes this one unique, and your choice of shutter speed shows all the dynamics of the fall.

This is a wonderful tribute to the era of Kodachrome. Your processing of this transparency is spot on in my opinion.

Eva,

This is a very nice shot of the falls. The K-64 did a wonderful job--it's one of the best films ever. Your processing is excellent--nice high values and open shadows. I can almost hear the roar and feel the spray. Well done!

Thanks for your kudo about my Yosemite images. Yosemite is one of all-time favorite places.

Eva,

Yeah, for such an iconic view, and being 20 years old, and being on 35mm film and having to scan.... this is awesome! Seriously though, this is excellent, all the way from capture to processing. What I'm really enjoying about the comp and scene is the visibility of the area above and beyond the lower falls here. Definitely adds another dimension and hints at something bigger beyond. Well done Eva.

Eva: What a nice stroll down memory lane this must have been. I've been to Yosemite twice; once in the Spring when the falls were gushing and once in the Fall when they were trickling. It is indeed a magical place and one I would love to visit again. I like how you just shot the lower falls and really like the details in the larger version especially. Good choice of SS that gives a feeling of the power of the flow. 2 thumbs up. >=))>

This really conveys the power of the falls and thus the feeling of actually being there- I can hear the roar now!

I like this with the darker rock framing the water. The lack of sky also creates a nice intimacy.
