Fairy Duster Seed Casing

I like how these dried seed casings curl up after they drop their seeds! The edges of them have a gold sheen to them that also reminds me of jewelry.

Too little DOF? I was wide open on these ones! I think I was also using a 12mm extender on the 100mm macro...

For some reason when I post stuff it loses contrast & color so I exaggerated it a little here for the web but it still looks flat for some reason.

Eirini: Well done. We have a large patch of oleanders in our back yard and their seed pods have a similar look. I always try to shoot them in the early spring but so far none are ready. Good photography. >=))>

I really like this, Eirini, and I think you DOF choice works great! Nice comp of the three curly seed casings. Those edges are pretty cool too. Kudos to you for being able to find the extraordinary in the ordinary! :toast:

The curling seed pods and the golden edges are really fine. If there was a way to remove the oof pod farthest to the right, this would be much stronger. Might be worth trying some selective blurring and some burning in.

I like this one, Eirini, especially the natural color and tones, but I also agree with Mark about trying to blur and darkern the casing furthest to the right.

Erini:
This looks interesting like band of gold rings. Nice texture. I think the DOF here is just fine.
