This shot was taken at North Park in Gibsonia,Pa.
I have been taking pics of this Heron at his favorite fishing hole for the past year. One day I moved to a different spot on the other side of the lake and he flew over and posed for me for about 10 minutes. I think he was looking for me.
Canon T2i Canon 100-400L 1/1250 @f6.3 ISO 200 HH.
C&C welcome
Thanks Bill

This is sweet, Bill. Nice detail and exposure, and I like the way it shows off the curve of the neck. It might work just a bit better if the heron were a little further right in the frame to give it more room in the direction it's looking.

Angle is a little high - but a nice perch and a good look at this bird - something slightly different

Nice pose and eye contact!

Looks like a juvenile? Agree with Dennis re: position of the bird.

Unusual perch for me. Nice. Usually I see them (if I see them) in the water. Agree re position of the bird. I have never had one looking for me :frown:

I like the contrast and perch in this image. Nice details on the bird. Another vote for a little to the right! Sharon

Strong image, Bill! I love the quality to this. Great light and excellent detail in the heron. I guess I'll add my vote to feeling it might be even stronger by shifting the heron further to the right in the frame, while still leaving sufficient margin beside his perch.

Gotta ask...is his second leg really tucked up that tightly or is this one talented amputee? I know herons often rest on just one leg, but I'm used to seeing SOME sign of the second leg or foot at least! Adds a little intrigue to the shot, anyway!

Thanks for all the comments. I moved him a little to the right and it looks better. Also, he does have another leg John. He was good at tucking it in. I have other poses of him with both legs I can send you if you like.
Thanks Bill Marsh
