Four-spotted Skimmer

Four-spotted Skimmer (Libellula quadrimaculata) photographed last summer and processed in Viveza 2. I'm using the trial and am at the begin of the learning curve.

7D, Sigma 150 macro, f/8.0, ISO 500, 1/160 sec, HH, natural light, PP in LR4 and Viveza 2 (exploring Structure). Minor crop for composition. Vignette.

I wish there was more dof for the wings. Offending twig cloned away.

All your comments are much appreciated. Thanks for your comments on my other photos. Roger.

Excellent, Roger. No nits from me. OK, maybe a bit more focus in the wing tips, but no biggie there. There is certainly enough to see the structure well, and you more than make up for it with the excellent detail in the head and thorax while maintaining the nicely blurred bg. The processing looks spot on.

Great capture, Roger. Yes, more dof on the wings would be nice but I think it is also fine as is. You have the body in good focus which is what counts. And great job for handheld! I like the angled perch of the skimmer and the angled grasses. I think cloning out the one grass at his tail might be worth exploring. With the shadow, I find it a bit distracting. Good job processing.

Nice work! More of the wings would be nice, but I like it.

Agree on the DOF, but a very minor issue to me. Lovely detail on the rest of the Skimmer's body! I would be tempted to clone out the two grass blades, one behind the skimmer and the other in the LRHC.

Roger thats a beauty sitting there ...and BG and those stalks of grass all perfect ..yes as the others have told a little more dof would have been good.

The basal wing colors and the grass work well and I like the detail--nicely done......Jim

I like the detail...sometimes, I know they're hard to capture. Don't really have any complaints...
