Here's another from Lake Champlain, essentially the same location as my previous post here. Much harsher conditions on this particular evening and obviously a very different mood as a result.

The arctic high which is now sitting on top of us was just pushing into the area and the wind was gusting 40-50mph, creating a ton of spray which was extremely tough to keep off the lens/filter. After about 30 min. of working this scene I could here myself "crunching" every time I moved. I looked down to discover that I was coated in ice from all the wind driven spray. It wasn't terribly cold so it wasn't freezing on the lens instantly but over time and exposure to the wind it was freezing on me.

As always thanks for taking a peek.

Great perspective and composition. I love the motion in the waves.

Very dynamic shot. I might try darkening the ocean in the mid ground to provide a smoother transition. I realize the spray and surf will be brighter, but the darker ocean areas are what I am refering to. Volatile sky.

Sounds like conditions I would not enjoy. Nice dynamic image, though I much prefer the linked image.

Kurt I really like this image. Love the energy in the wave action, the threatening sky with color, and I also like the little bit of shore accentuating the mid ground. Very well done!! Chet

Great dramatic mood here, Kurt. Clouds and water seem to radiate towards the viewer. Are those rain showers in the background? Great job on braving the conditions and coming away with such a fine image,

Amazing wave motion, and together with those awesome clouds, definitely gives the viewer a sense of the powerful wind and weather you encountered. Not for the faint of heart.

Wow, this one has it all, dark brooding clouds, awesome light, and some incredible wave action! Great job Kurt. I would have never guessed this was the same location as your previous post. :toast:

I like the light and color in this image. The perspective and your choice of shutter speed show the power of the incoming storm.

Hey, if it was easy everyone would be doing it, right? An image isn't good if doesn't come by way of a little suffering, you know!

I think it's wonderfully dramatic!

Beautiful image Kurt. I really like the energy you captured here...that water looks rough! I really like the light in the sky and the subtle reflected light in the water.
