Antelope Curves REPOST

In a place that is visited by photographers almost in pilgrimage, it is difficult to find an original composition in Antelope Canyon unless you think beyond the norm. Luckily, the canyon gives us plenty of opportunity for such a task. So here is my attempt to capture Antelope Canyon in such a way that is different than what you might expect. This was my first trip to the canyon and despite the hordes of photographers and guides (something this nature photographer isn't used to dealing with) I had a great time visiting.

This is a very unique and appealing take on the slot canyons. love the receding curves and the black and white. Somehow one can appreciate the forms and textures more. Great job!!!!!! Chet

I like this Christina. The textures, tones, and the diagonal layers are great. The only change I would make would be to crop off most of the negative space on the bottom. I did a screen crop and I like it much better that way. But that's just me.

Hi Christina, I like the shot and think that it is a unique take on the location. I would however have to agree with Peter about a crop off the bottom, the dark shadowed area is a bit distracting and disrupts the flow. Nicely seen and photographed.

Thanks Peter and Zack for the crop suggestion. I have created two new crops of the photo because I still tend to like less the square crop and like more the more rectangle crop.

I like what you've done here, and the second cropped image is far stronger.
Still, I feel the entire image is underexposed. Check out your histogram in the Levels dialog box and move the white slider left to match the first bits of information (or to taste). I think that that makes for a much more successful b&w image with greater tonal qualities rather than the more limited range of greys you have here.

I like this Cristina. I agree with John about the second version being a nice improvement and I also feel it is a little underexposed. I really like the lines and textures...

I like the more rectangular crop, I also like the texture in the shot. I haven't been there but this only goes to show that you
can still go to these iconic places and come back with something unique

Very nice capture. Never been to Antelope Canyon, but like you noted, thousands of similar images takes. My only $0.02 would to bring more detail out in the shadow areas in post processing.

The second image is really nice, could see using levels to bring a bit more contrast to the scene as John suggested.
